Santo Domingo Treasures |
NEW!! A few years ago we made a trip to New Mexico and visited the Santo Domingo Pueblo. The color and style of their pots are very distinctive. The inside of the pots are glazed so that they can be filled with water. The bracelet is called a memory bracelet because it is threaded onto piano wire and returns to its coil.

Navajo Princess |
NEW!! This is a beautiful study in pencil of a young woman with her crown and traditional hair style of the Navajo tribe. |

|
|
Kiowa Baby |
NEW!! This adorable little six month baby boy belonged to a young Indian woman who was modeling for a workshop. She happily shared her darling little baby with us. |

Comfort |
The feeling of mother's comforting lap is needed by all children. He has danced and played until late night sends him to that comfort. Many of my own clothes are used here. The Kiowa leather dress is my pride and joy. His little Del vest and Sioux moccasins are also part of my attire that I use for paintings.

Cheyenne Old Time |
When "Del Big Mountain", of French/Cheyenne heritage, winds and twists in a traditional outfit of his own creation you know that you are seeing "the real thing". A lifelong interest and tremendous skill at the making of Indian regalia as well his skill as a dancer is fascinating. This is Del's wedding outfit.

Chief Standing Bear |
This is "Chief Standing Bear" and his horse "Red". He is a Del Indian who dresses in traditional Sioux leathers. He is a lovely human being who worked with the young men in the scouting organization. His name was Bill Kimi and he is much missed.

Cibique Sunrise |
Cathy was 14 years old when she was given a "Sunrise", the ceremony that introduces her as a woman in the Apache tradition. Her relatives all attend as well as the town's citizens. It is a very solemn and important time for the young girls of the Apache tribe. I was an invited guest to this event and felt honored to have witnessed it at the White Mt. Apache reservation in Cibique, Arizona.

Fancy Feathers |
Eagle feathers and fluffies, beads and leather and anything that moves and jingles when the dancer spins and hops to the heartbeat of the drum. An amazing experience to watch and hear. Most of the tribes use the Feather Dancers as a starter for the Pow Wow because they are so colorful, fast dancing and beautiful.

Medicine Feathers |
The full meaning of this painting surrounds the mystical power and pride of the Eagle. The Golden Eagle feathers are a small treasure that will be used in the many dance clothes Del creates.

Morning Prayer |
The original eagle feather warrior's bonnet represented here consists of 33 golden eagle tail feathers and 64 fluffies from the base of the feather. The browband is adorned by woven dyed porcupine quills and ribbons, and ermine tails decorate the sides. It is an amazing treasure of the Indian's magnificent heritage.

Serenity |
A Navajo from Canyon De Chelly in Arizona, she was a wonderful model for a workshop, and she is also a wonderful artist. Her lovely peaceful expression catches the heart. She wears a beautiful velvet studded blouse with a Zuni pin at the throat. Her long, dark hair is caught up into a twist instead of wrapped with yarn in the traditional way.
